This men's trapper ushanka is made from cardinal fox — a long-haired winter fur with natural red-brown hues, silver guard hairs, and layered texture. The tone is deep and complex, changing slightly in outdoor light. Designed for extended cold wear, the hat covers the ears, forehead, and back of the neck in full length fur, without bulk.
The crown is crafted from soft black leather. It’s unstructured, allowing the shape to mold gradually to the wearer’s head. A sewn-in leather visor frames the forehead, holding structure during use. The earflaps are tied at the back of the neck by default, creating a sleeker profile with the ears still covered. For maximum protection, they can be tied under the chin as needed.
Black cotton ties are stitched on both flaps and don’t interfere with the silhouette. Inside, the quilted black serge lining and built-in thermal padding ensure moisture regulation and even warmth. A silk tape inside the lining allows for micro-adjustment of fit, tightening slightly for added comfort.
