This men’s trapper ushanka is made from Russian raccoon fur — here, carefully dyed to a deep, uniform black. The base underwool stays matte and soft, while the long guard hairs catch the light with a subtle feathered gloss. The result is bold but never harsh — built to insulate, move, and fade into stillness when needed.
The fur wraps the brow, inner earflaps, and back neckline. The leather crown is shaped anatomically from one front-to-back panel and two side inserts. A sewn-in visor gives the front its outline. Rear ties in black cotton allow the flaps to fold back in roller style — keeping the ears covered, but opening the look.
Inside, the hat is lined with quilted black serge and thermal padding. A silk tape adjuster inside the lining allows you to reduce slack and refine fit. The silhouette is compact, grounded, and functional — made for cold that doesn’t want noise or weight.
