This men’s trapper ushanka is made from Russian raccoon — also known as tanuki or finnraccoon. The fur is naturally full, with long, soft guard hairs and warm underwool. Compared to Canadian raccoon, it’s lighter in structure, airier in motion, and visually more expressive. The fur covers the forehead, inner earflaps, and rear band for full protection.
The leather crown is shaped without hard form: one top panel runs from front to back, with curved inserts at the sides. A sewn-in visor sets the front. The earflaps tie at the back of the head, giving the option of a roller-style look with full ear coverage. Rear ties are made of black cotton, stitched quietly into place.
The inside is lined with quilted serge and thermal insulation. A silk tape adjuster lets you reduce internal slack for better fit. This model is light to the eye, warm on the move, and made for quiet winter function — no noise, no glare.
